Javelim is a 100 per cent male hybrid and is ideally suited to the cultivation of green asparagus in areas with a temperate climate. Javelim is a mid-early variety with a very high stem weight and excellent head closure. Thanks to its excellent spear quality, Javelim can be grown across a wide geographical area.
Javelim has a very high stem weight, good yield, excellent head closure and remains consistent throughout its productive years. Even in warm conditions, Javelim’s head closure remains very good. Javelim produces attractive, smooth stems and is a highly appealing product.
Javelim thrives best in fertile, well-drained soils. In long-term trials, the best results in greenhouse cultivation have been achieved with a planting density of 4–6 plants per linear metre and a planting depth of 15–20 cm. Javelim is a mid-early variety and produces a high percentage of asparagus in the top quality grade.
Javelim’s uniform foliage is dark, upright, robust and has an open structure. The foliage is highly resistant to lodging and remains green for a long time.
