Aspalim is a 100% male hybrid and is ideally suited to the cultivation of green asparagus in areas with a temperate climate. Aspalim combines a very early start to production with very high yields.
Aspalim has very high production potential, excellent quality and very good thickness. Aspalim’s head closure is also excellent, even in hot conditions during harvest. The variety has excellent stalk thickness, which shows little decline over the course of its productive years. Aspalim produces attractive, smooth spears with a cylindrical shape.
Aspalim thrives best in fertile, well-drained soil. In multi-year research, the best results in green cultivation were achieved with a planting density of 4 plants per linear metre and a planting depth of 15–22 cm. Aspalim has a very early start to production and good head closure, making it highly suitable for early-season cultivation.
Aspalim’s uniform foliage is upright and has an open structure. With the right management to prevent Botrytis, the foliage remains green well into autumn.
